Enbala Recognized by Navigant Research as the Only Leading Vendor in Both VPP and DERMS Markets

Enbala announces that it has again been named by Navigant Research* as a world-leading provider of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) software. This follows a January announcement by Navigant naming Enbala as a leader in the Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) market. This dual recognition positions Enbala as the only vendor to be listed as a leader in both Navigant Research Leaderboard categories — clearly establishing Enbala as the leading company in distributed energy control.

The 2020 VPP and DERMS reports come after Navigant’s initial Leaderboards were established in 2016.  Enbala has continued its leadership position for the ensuing four years.  Among the 10 criteria used in the 2020 Leaderboard ranking, Enbala ranked highest of the 15 vendors who were evaluated in several categories, scoring a perfect 100 for its Vision and also garnering the highest scores for DERMS Integration Strategy, Go-to-Market Strategy, Value Chain Capture, and Platform Performance.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by Navigant for our leadership in both the VPP and DERMS markets,” noted Enbala CEO and President Arthur “Bud” Vos. “The driving philosophy behind our Concerto platform is meeting the market’s need for a single solution enabling the evolution from demand flexibility, to virtual power plants and, ultimately, to distribution optimization using DERMS technology. Our platform is the only platform that excels in all categories, providing our customers with a migration path for continually more advanced applications,” he emphasized.

The 2020 VPP Leaderboard notes that companies like Enbala who were ranked as market leaders “clearly differentiated themselves from the competition through exceptional software platform development, robust portfolios in diverse markets, and a sustainable business model. Leaders are currently in the strongest position for long-term success in the VPP market.”  The VPP Leaderboard also emphasizes that combining this report with Navigant’s recently published Leaderboard: DERMS Vendors provides a peek into the future of grid-edge DERMS that are expected to dominate the Energy Cloud landscape.

“In the highly competitive world of DER management, Enbala was the only platform provider ranked as a market leader for both DERMS and VPPs,” says Peter Asmus, research director at Navigant Research. “Enbala has pushed the envelope in new markets and is enabling new use cases for an increasingly diverse set of DER assets to provide vital grid services around the world.”
