Canadian Energy Technology Industry Veteran Dr. Vicky Sharpe Joins the EnerTech Capital Advisory Board

November 11th, 2014, Toronto, ON. – Leveraging our long history in the Energy Technology industry, we are pleased to announce that industry veteran, Dr. Vicky Sharpe, has joined the EnerTech Capital Advisory Board

Dr. Sharpe is the founder and former CEO of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), which invests in emerging new technologies in the Energy Technology and Cleantech space in Canada. Over her career at SDTC, Dr. Sharpe increased the funding pool from $100M to over $ 1.4B and mobilized private sector capital resulting in more than $ 4.3B of investments for projects and commercialization activities.

With over 35 years of experience in the energy industry, Dr. Sharpe has successfully integrated sustainable development into business practices. As President of GRI Canada and Astral Group, she demonstrated leadership and vision in the use of innovative technologies across Canada’s primary economic sectors. As Vice President of Ontario Hydro International Inc., Dr. Sharpe created new global revenue streams for environmental and energy utilization practices. Prior to that, she held management positions in marketing, business development and technology innovation.

Dr. Sharpe continues to serve on numerous technology, industry association and government committees, in particular as an International Advisor on sustainability issues. Vicky has represented the Canadian energy sector at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Forum; and has chaired both the National Advisory Board on Energy, Science and Technology, and the Board of Directors of Clean Air Canada Inc. Her efforts were recognized with the National Energy Conservation Association’s inaugural Energy Efficiency Award for outstanding contributions to the energy industry.

Dr. Sharpe was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Enterprise Corporation, whose mandate is to finance and build new knowledge-based industries in Alberta. Dr. Sharpe is helping to shape the Canadian Energy Technology landscape through the provision of strategic advice. She is also a Director for Carbon Management Canada Inc. (CMC), a national research network focused on carbon management in Canada's fossil energy sector and the Biowaste to Energy for Canada integrated initiative Corp. (BECii).  Recently, she was appointed as a Senior Fellow of the International Institute for Sustainable Development

For her work in advancing sustainability and clean capitalism, Dr. Sharpe was recognized as one of the 2012 Clean 16 and 2015 Clean16 recipients as part of Canada's Clean50 initiative (www.clean50.ca).  Dr. Sharpe holds a B.Sc. Honours in Applied Biology from Bath University, UK, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Surface Chemistry, as applied to water pollution control, from Trent University, UK.
