  • Wally Hunter, Managing Director

    Wally has been investing in Energy Technology for over 15 years. He runs EnerTech's Canadian operations from Toronto. His specific areas of focus include opportunities in Energy Management and Building Automation & Control, Oil & Gas Technologies (including Digital Oil Fields), Power electronics, Advanced materials, Water treatment Technologies in Energy, Software & Internet of things (IoT).

    Prior to EnerTech, Wally was a Managing Director with RBC Capital Partners where he was responsible for the bank's Venture Capital fund (Energy Technology and Advanced Technology Fund) which was part of RBC's Investment Banking Division (RBC Capital Markets). He has an extensive background in the Venture Capital business which includes a series of successful IPO’s, M&A and turnaround transactions throughout his 20 year career in the finance business.

    In addition to Wally’s extensive finance background, he previously produced and hosted the weekly financial television show "Money Week" which featured over 200 guest interviews from Canadian and U.S. money managers over a 14 year period.  He was also involved in politics and sat as a local Councillor in the Town of Milton (three terms) and on the Board of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Chair of finance).

    Wally was past Chairman of the Banff Venture Forum Cleantech Stream and Chairman of the 2014 Canadian Venture Capital Association conference in Ottawa in May of 2014. He sits on the board of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA), Venture Capital Association of Alberta (VCAA), Sustainable Development Technology Canada Governing Board (SDTC) as well as EnerTech portfolio companies FilterBoxx, N-Dimension Solutions, HPC Energy Services and Western Oilfield Equipment Ltd. Wally was previously an observer on the Board of Distech Controls prior to the sale of the company to Acuity Brands for $318 Million CDN.

    Wally received a BA from the University of Western Ontario and has completed a number of securities-related courses and programs including the Canadian Securities Institute (CSC program) and Canadian Investment Finance (CIF I, II &III).

     

  • Bill Kingsley, Managing Director

    Bill Kingsley is a venture capitalist at EnerTech Capital focusing on energy related investments. Bill brings a passion for finding big ideas in early stage companies, and investing his and the firm’s knowledge and experience to help create value for the entrepreneur and investors.

    Bill has been investing for 22 years and for the past 15 years in the alternate energy space. These days, Bill’s specific areas of interest include technologies leading to more efficient energy use, network optimization and connected technologies, big/little data analytical software, advanced energy storage applications, and alternative products with low embodied energy.

    Before joining EnerTech in 2000, Bill enjoyed a 20 year career in some of the fastest growth segments of the telecommunications industry. Bill was recruited to Comcast in 1993 where he worked closely with the principals on some early venture-like investments.  From 1993-1998, Bill led investments by Comcast in nine partnerships with Teleport Communications Group, a joint venture which went public in 1996 and was later sold to AT&T for $11.3 billion in 1998. Bill also participated in the creation of CablePCS and eventual founding of the Sprint PCS joint venture between leading cable industry participants and Sprint, which provided Comcast with a multi-billion dollar return over 5 years.

    Earlier in his career, Bill was with GTE Mobile Communications as a Director of New Business Development with responsibility for new product development, brand development and industry joint venture initiatives. He started his career at Contel Corporation, a venture capitalist inspired independent telephone company, serving in a variety of marketing, product development, network design, financial and management positions.

    Bill is a board member of Blue Pillar, INVIDI Technologies, Space Time Insight, Terralux and is an observer to Oewaves Corporation and PCN Technologies. Bill is a member of the Investor Advisory board of the National Renewable Energy Lab and previously sat on the boards of several private companies that went public on Nasdaq, along with a number of companies acquired in the EnerTech portfolio. Bill received an MA from George Washington University and a BS from Lynchburg College.

  • Scott Ungerer, Founder & Managing Director

    Scott has been a visionary and recognized leader in venture capital investing for the traditional and advanced energy sectors for nearly 20 years. He is also one of the few with an extensive and proven investment and management operations history. Currently, Scott specifically looks for opportunities that reduce the cost and/or improve the customer experience related to all aspects of energy supply, delivery and usage.  His specific areas of experience, interest and expertise include companies that sell into the following industry sectors:  central and distributed power generation; electric transmission; electric, natural gas and/or water distribution; energy management for the customer premise; broadly defined Intelligent Grid; and transportation.

    Scott has worked with more than 15 early-to-mid stage companies providing both strategic and operational guidance and advice as a board member and investor. He currently sits on the boards of GeoDigital Inc. (Chairman), The NanoSteel Company , Tangent Energy Solutions (Chairman), Enbala Power Networks and N-Dimension Solutions Inc. Scott managed investments in and formerly sat on the boards of Clean Air Power (L: CAP)- sold; CURRENT Group; Catalytic Solutions (L: CTSU)- sold; Enerwise – purchased by Comverge; Intellon (NASDAQ: ITLN) - purchased by Atheros/Qualcom, Comverge (NASDAQ: COMV) - purchased by private equity investor, and CoaLogix (NASDAQ: ACORN) – purchased by private equity investor.

    Scott shares his expertise and viewpoints with the core energy/power industry through participation in a select few organizations: currently the Industrial Internet Consortium (Chairman of the SmartGrid TestBed Program’s Advisory Group); and formerly as: a board member of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP); Chairman of the VC Advisory Board for the National Renewable Energy Lab; member of the Battelle Energy Advisory Council; and member of the Cleantech VentureNetwork Advisory Board.

    Prior to EnerTech, Scott spent 16 years in the power industry as an operating executive with Atlantic Energy culminating in his role as one of five senior officers, and as President & COO of the entire set of the company's non-regulated enterprises.

    Scott received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University; he has also attended several graduate level Business, Strategy and Management courses at Wharton.

  • Jarett Carson, Managing Director

    Jarett Carson has been investing and advising on investments in energy and energy technology, companies and projects for 15 years and including his previous engineering roles has over 21 years of combined experience in the energy and process industries.

    Prior to joining EnerTech, Jarett was a Partner at Sound Energy Partners, an energy focused hedge fund group where they launched one of the first alternative energy hedge fund products. The Sound Energy Alternatives Fund invested globally, in public and late-stage private companies, in the energy technology sector. Previously, he was Director, Energy Technology Research, at RBC Capital Markets, which he joined in 2000 to cover the oil and gas industry. In 2001 he launched RBC's efforts in energy technology research and was responsible for advising public and private market investment managers and companies on a global basis.   Prior to joining RBC, Jarett worked six years in various engineering and project management positions in upstream oil and gas (with Mobil Oil, now ExxonMobil), refining and chemicals – the final four with Chevron.

    Jarett has made appearances on CNBC and has been featured in articles in Bloomberg, Barron’s, Dow Jones, and The Globe and Mail, among print publications, as an expert on energy technology investments. He received his BSc in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and his MBA from the A.B. Freeman School of Tulane University.

  • Dean Sciorillo, Managing Director

    Dean has been investing in energy and clean energy companies and projects for 12 years. Dean joined EnerTech in 2004 and is responsible for sourcing, diligencing and working with EnerTech portfolio companies. Prior to joining EnerTech, Dean spent 15 years with Exelon Corporation most recently in the corporate venture capital group. Prior to that, he was a Business Planning Manager focusing on the long term strategic and financial planning of the Enterprises Business Unit and worked closely with the retail energy, telecommunication and utility infrastructure businesses. Earlier in his career, he held financial positions with several start-up businesses of Exelon including the company's energy management and consulting practice and onsite energy services business.

    Dean received a BS in Finance from LaSalle University and an MBA from the Fox School of Temple University.

  • Anne-Marie Bourgeois, Vice President, Investments

    Anne-Marie has 10 years of operational and business development background within technology companies, and 10 years of Investment experience. She uses her industry expertise and relationships to add value to portfolio companies and strategic partners. 

    As Vice President, Investments, Anne-Marie Bourgeois serves as a member of the venture deal team and is responsible for sourcing proprietary deal flow, vetting deals and managing investments, including Distech Controls (exited) and Power Survey International.  Anne-Marie’s specific areas of interest include technologies leading to more efficient energy, waste management and water use, network optimization and connected technologies- Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Cleantech, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Analytics.

    Anne-Marie is known for her proactive involvement with companies and international corporate partners and LPs. Having spent the first 10 years of her career in marketing, sales management and operations, she worked with over 100 early-to-mid stage technology companies, providing strategic advice and helping commercialize their technologies. She uses her extensive network of contacts and relationships to make introductions to new customers, business partners, or acquirers on a global basis.  She is fluent in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

    Prior to EnerTech, Anne-Marie worked as a Regional Director for SDTC and as an executive in residence specialized in sales and business development with SIDD. She also gained due diligence experience while working with FondAction’s partner organization. She received a MA in International Management from Université du Québec, a BS (Hons) in Geology, as well as a BA in Management and Political Science from the University of Ottawa.

  • Chris Buckman, Vice President

    Mr. Buckman was most recently the VP of Business Development at Moore Pipe.  Prior to his position with Moore Pipe, Chris held senior management roles as Executive VP Business Development of Ignite Energy Services and President of Ignite Frac Services. He brings significant domain knowledge and operating experience in the Energy Technology sector and helps support a strong focus in Canada. Chris will continue to help EnerTech develop significant linkages with the many emerging Energy Technology companies along with Strategic Partners and Co-Investors. He has 14 years of progressively senior management level experience in the Western Canadian Oil and Gas Industry.

    Chris is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge with a B.A. in Kinesiology and Marketing.  

  • Dr. Dominic Geraghty, Executive in Residence

    Dr. Geraghty is Executive Chairman of Smart Energy Instruments, Chairman of N-Dimension Technologies, Managing Director of smartgridix.com, and Team Lead of the Smart Grid Testbed Program at the Industrial Internet Consortium. He has more than 25 years of experience in the power industry and has had an extensive career in the power and smart grid sector including serving as the CEO and President of Tantalus Systems Corporation, and as Senior Vice-President of Corporate Development of Catalytica Energy Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CESI), heading up M&A activities. He was senior private equity energy investment consultant at GFI Energy Group, Oaktree Capital. Dom co-founded Enerwise Global Technologies, an enterprise energy management solutions provider, where he served as co-CEO and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. He also founded grid2plug.com, an e-commerce company focused on developing premium power solutions for the power generation industry.

    Dr. Geraghty has provided consulting services to utilities, energy service providers, early-stage companies and venture capital funds in the energy sector. Earlier, he served in senior management positions with various other companies in the energy industry, including as President of Genesis Services Division at Itron (NASDAQ: ITRI), as General Partner of UTech, a venture capital fund focused on energy-related transactions, and at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), where he was responsible for corporate and R&D strategy and research and development program management. Dom served on the Boards of Tantalus, The NanoSteel Company, and SCR-Tech (CoaLogix).

    He holds a BE and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from University College in Dublin, Ireland, and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara, CA.

  • Robert M. Chiste, Executive in Residence

    Bob is an Executive in Residence with EnerTech Capital and Principal and CEO of Sorfina Capital. Sorfina is his family owned investment fund focused on early stage clean energy and traditional energy services companies, with a portfolio of over a dozen companies. On November 9 of this year, Bob was named President and CEO on Encycle Corporation (formerly Regen Energy), an EnerTech portfolio company. He is currently Chairman of Enbala Power Networks and Chairman of Encycle, both EnerTech portfolio companies. He has served on the board of directors of six public company and over a dozen private companies. Bob is also on EnerTech's Advisory Board and was the founding CEO of Comverge, Inc., which was funded in 2003 by a consortium led by EnerTech Capital. Bob led Comverge's IPO in 2007, which reached a market capitalization of over $500 million prior to his retirement to begin Sorfina Capital in 2009. The innovative business model he created at Comverge has been widely recognized as the commencement and catalyst of the Demand Management industry in the U.S. Bob has been involved directly in the founding and acquisition of several other EnerTech portfolio companies, including FuelQuest, Enerwise Global Technologies and Sixth Dimension. Bob was President and CEO of Allwaste, Inc., a NYSE company from 1994 to 1998 when he lead the sale of the company to Philip Services in Hamilton, Ontario for over $500 million, a 290% gain for its shareholders. In addition to being a serial entrepreneur, he has had P&L responsibility at divisions of public companies, Transco Energy and Enron Oil and Gas.


    He earned his B.A. in Mathematics from the College of New Jersey and his J.D. and M.B.A. from Rutgers University.

  • Colleen Pale, Director of Finance and Administration

    Joined EnerTech in 2008 and is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the Funds and the Firm. Colleen has worked in accounting and IT-related positions in the banking, credit card and non-profit sectors for the past 15 years.  She earned her B.S. degree in Accountancy from Villanova School of Business, Villanova University.

  • Gian Vergnetti, Associate

    Gian joined EnerTech in 2013 and is responsible for sourcing, diligencing and working with EnerTech portfolio companies. Prior to joining EnerTech, Gian conducted research as a Fulbright Scholar at Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where his work focused on investments in the energy and natural resources space. Prior to that, he was a Specialist in the Alternative Investments Group at Merrill Lynch & Co.

    Gian received a BS in International Business from The University of Scranton.

  • Angelica Mengana, Analyst

    Angelica joined EnerTech in March, 2014. She supports the Canadian deal team on transactions, market analysis and research. Angelica is also responsible for reporting and communicating with our strategic investors.

    Prior to joining EnerTech, Angelica spent over 5 years as part of the investment team at GrowthWorks Capital Ltd., (a Canadian retail venture capital firm) where she had a broad industry focus. 

    Angelica holds an Honours B.A. with majors in both Economics and International Relations from the University of Toronto. Following that she added an Environmental Chemistry Program to her credentials and received her Canadian Securities Course (CSC) certification. Angelica is completely fluent in Spanish, Russian and Italian.

  • Donna Smith, Executive Assistant Philadelphia

    Donna joined EnerTech Capital in 2003 and is the Executive Assistant at the Conshohocken office working with Scott, Bill and Dean as well as maintaining the general office needs.

    Donna completed the certification and advanced certification programs in Business Management at Villanova University in 1998.

  • Lyndsy MacArthur, Executive Assistant Toronto

    Lyndsy joined EnerTech Capital in May of 2012 as an Executive Assistant at the firm's Toronto office. In addition to working directly with Wally Hunter, she is responsible for maintaining the Toronto, Calgary and Montreal offices as well as helping to plan company events. She came to EnerTech from Woolrich, an outdoor retail company where she was a Brand Representative.

    Lyndsy spent two years in Early Childhood Education at Ryerson University before graduating with an honors degree in Psychology from York University.

  • Montana Miles, Executive Assistant Toronto

    Montana joined EnerTech Capital in September of 2016 as an Executive Assistant at the firms Toronto office; working directly with Wally Hunter. In addition to supporting Wally, she also maintains the general office needs and is responsible for helping to plan company events.

    Montana came to EnerTech after completing four years at Western University with a Major in Sociology.
